What is Adventure Tubing?
Many operators are constantly looking for unusual ways to cross land, water, snow and air in order to satisfy the most eager adventure enthusiasts.
One innovative idea which is currently being offered by Perthshire adventure company Nae Limits and Inverness-based operator Boots 'n' Paddles, is Adventure Tubing!
What is it?
If you've ever floated down a river on an old car or tractor tube inner then you'll perhaps get an idea of what this new adventure sport involves!
However, Scottish operators are far too professional to allow clients to navigate Scottish rivers on old tube inners. Instead they've developed purpose-built tubes which are reinforced to take the knocks with grab-handles to allow clients to steady themselves during the ride downstream.
The adventure tube experience involves navigating through scenic river gorges, jumping into lovely deep pools surrounded by smooth natual rock and floating through parts of rivers were few have been before. And the operators make sure you're provided with a wet suit, buoyancy aid and helmet (along with your adventure tube), and a full experience and safety briefing.
Adventure tubing is a half-day activity and is available during the summer months of April - September and is a great option for small groups and is also a great add on to a multi activity day or weekend. Currently the two operators detailed above are the only ones offering adventure tubing in the UK.
The minimum age for participation is 16 years, though under 18's must complete a parental consent form if coming alone.
