Archery

Archery is one of the few sports that can be enjoyed by almost everyone. It is possibly the only sport where beginners can compete next to an Olympic archer! Archery provides something for everyone - social recreation or fierce competition. If you fancy yourself as a modern day Robin Hood then read on for details.

Where to go:

There are a several companies in Scotland that offer archery as part of their activities stable - see adjacent operator entries. They will provide you with the necessary equipment and instruction (though not the feathered hat and tights!)

There are also around 50 archery clubs in Scotland, and the easiest way to find your local club is to contact the appropriate regional administrator of the Scottish Archery Association (SSA) to find out where your local club is located.

There are various different archery disciplines which you can learn including both field archery and traditional longbow archery. Field archery focuses on simulating hunting, usually in woodland courses at unmarked distances, to find out more information click here. Traditional longbow archery focuses on traditional recreational archery and the crafts associated with it. To find out more information click here.

Want to get started ?

The club will have equipment you can use until you are ready to buy your own. It is recommended that you do not buy any equipment until you have sought the advice of the club coach or an experienced club member.
