Skateboarding at Perth Skateboard Park

Skateboarding in Scotland continues to be a thriving activity, people of all ages can be found riding at the many skateparks and street spots that Scotland has to offer.

Recent years have seen a real boom in the numbers of people riding and in general public interest and acknowledgement of the sport. This increased popularity has led to the construction of many new parks both large and small throughout Scotland.

Where to go:

As well as parks and spots that have been here for years there has also been a real growth in skateparks in the last couple of years.

Want to get started ?

If you're looking to start skateboarding then it's best to find a flat area of ground to get used to rolling around, pushing and turning. It's important to develop your balance on the flat ground before trying to ride ramps. Once you've got those basics down you can then move onto a skatepark.

Some skateparks, particularly indoor ones such as The Factory have dedicated beginners' sessions with people on hand to give you helpful tips. Otherwise if you know when the skatepark is going to be quietest (it helps to ask!) then come back then so that you're not going to get in the way of a busy session, also other skaters will usually be happy to give you advice as well. Apart from that just keep skating, the more you skate the more confident you'll get and then you can't help but improve!
