Canyoning

Not for the fainthearted, canyoning is a whitewater ride down gorges and waterfalls. Participants slide down wet slabs of rock, cliff jump off blind escarpments into deep pools, scramble up rocks and abseil down drops and waterfalls.
You get fully kitted out before you go with helmets, wetsuits and buoyancy aids so you're well protected. What better way to wipe the cobwebs away than by plunging off waterfalls into deep cool pools!
Where to go:
There is a plethora of adventure companies that offer this madcap sport. Great for groups of mates who are looking for a challenging adventure. Check the adjacent activity provider links for full details.Want to get started ?
Particpating in this sport on your own is not advised, however there are a number of Scottish adventure companies that have set up canyoning days as part of their portfolio of activity trips. Great fun to do with your mates or for stag and hen weekends.Canyoning in some parts of the world is known as gorge walking, and they are very similar, they both involve diving, sliding and jumping your way down a river gorge. These sports can be done all year round, however you would have to be very hard to take on Scottish waters in the winter!
