Scotland is one of the top destinations in the world for sea kayaking as not only does it boast awesome coastal scenery, sheltered coves and bays and clear waters but it also has incredible marine and bird life and the best way to see this is from a sea kayak.

Where to go:

The waters around the Isle of Skye and around the Outer Hebrides are a sea kayakers paradise. There are a number of operators in these areas who can help get you started. Once you see Scotland from this perspective you're sure to be hooked.

If you're an experienced kayaker and looking for some route suggestions, a great site to visit is the Scottish Sea Kayaking Photo Gallery run by Douglas Wilcox. This is a non-commercial site giving GPS tracks of some great routes throughout Scotland - which are also overlaid onto Google Earth. Each route also contains a blow by blow description punctuated by some stunning photographs of what you'll see along the way.

You'll also find plenty of Scottish sea kayaking information and advice on our Sea Kayaking Factsheet
