Active offer activity days, holidays and training courses. Choose from our exciting range of activities; white water rafting, canoeing, gorge scrambling, rock climbing, abseiling and mountain biking as well as skiing and snowboarding during the winter. Activities are available to suit individuals, families and groups of all ages and abilities.
Activity holidays and training courses are based at Craigower Lodge Outdoor Centre in Newtonmore. We run weekend and week long courses to suit novices through to training and assessment courses for instructors. A great outdoor experience awaits you and are all set within the magnificent Cairngorms National Park.
What we do best:
Canadian Canoeing originates from the North American Indians, who used the craft for travelling, trading and hunting, they were the vehicles of that by gone era.Today the canoe is used mainly for leisure and recreation. It is fun and easy to learn and once you have acquired the basic skills many exciting opportunities await, such as, journeys and multi day expeditions on lochs, sea and rivers. Canoeing is an excellent way to discover wild parts of the Scottish Highlands, with friends, family, colleagues etc...
The possibilities with an Open Canoe are incredible, In mastering the canoe you will learn A vast array of strokes and manoeuvres enabling you to travel safely into wild and remote places.

Newtonmore, despite its remote Highland location is easy to get to by road via the main A9 trunk road north. There are also good rail services directly to Newtonmore and air services to Inverness, which is under an hour's drive away.
The Traveline web site provides timetables for travel throughout Scotland - both local and national.
Available packages
Day trips on rivers and lochs throughout Scotland including the rivers Spey, Tay, Dee, Doon, Awe and Lochs such as Loch Lomond, Tay, Ness and Ard.
If you have more time to spare treat yourself to one of the most satisfying of outdoor experiences possible - a multi day canoe journey. These can be to wild and remote places such as Inverpolly or on Rivers such as the Tay or Spey where you can choose hotel or guest house accommodation.
Skills Training and Star tests courses are also available.
We can provide transport for groups from most towns or cities within Scotland and airport transfers from Glasgow, Prestwick, Edinburgh & Inverness Airports.
